Katharine Hope McPhee Foster was born in Los Angeles, California, United States, on March 25, 1984, is an American actress.

Young Katharine McPhee first started performing during her years at the Notre Dame High School, Sherman Oaks, in school plays and musicals.

She made her big screen debut in biographical musical drama film Crazy (2007) in cameo role as Paramount Girl.

She got her television acting debut in drama series lonelygirl15 (2007) in episode "Truth or Dare", in role as New Friend.

Her breakthrough performance came as a contestant in singing competition television series American Idol (2006).

She was nominated for the Ovation Award for Lead Actress in a Musical for her role as Annie Oakley in a musical "Annie Get Your Gun" (2005) at Cabrillo Music Theatre.

She landed her Broadway debut in a musical "Waitress" (2018) in role as Jenna Hunterson, at Brooks Atkinson Theatre, for which she won the Audience Award for Favorite Replacement (Female).
