Young Jane Powell first started her career in Portland children's radio program Stars of Tomorrow, at the age of 5. She made her big screen debut in musical comedy film Song of the Open Road (1944) in role as Jane Powell. She got her television debut in NBC anthology musical comedy series Producers' Showcase (1957) in episode "Ruggles of Red Gap", in role as Clementine. Jane breakthrough performance came as Ellen Bowen in musical comedy film Royal Wedding (1951). She landed her Broadway debut in a musical "Irene" (1973-1974) in role as Irene O'Dare, at Minskoff Theatre.
