Andie MacDowell was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, United States, on April 21, 1958, is an American actress and model.

Young Andie MacDowell first started her career as a fashion model.

She was discovered while on a trip to Los Angeles, by model scout from modeling agency Wilhelmina Models.

She signed with Elite Model Management in New York City in 1978.

She made her big screen debut in adventure drama movie Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) with Christopher Lambert.

She got her television debut in Italian miniseries The Secret of the Sahara (1988) in role as Anthea.

Her breakthrough performance came as Ann Bishop Mullany in independen drama film S*x, Lies, and Videotape (1989), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
