Young Gloria Swanson began her professional acting career in 1914, as an extra at Essanay Studios in Chicago. She made her big screen debut in short comedy film The Fable of the Club Girls and the Four Times Veteran (1914) in uncredited role as One of the Club Girls. She got her television debut in variety show The Gloria Swanson Hour (1948) as Hostess. Gloria's breakthrough performance came as Lady Mary Lasenby in silent adventure drama film Male and Female (1919). She landed her Broadway debut in a play "A Goose for the Gander" (1945), in role as Katherine, at Playhouse Theatre.
