Cyd Charisse was born in Amarillo, Texas, United States, on March 8, 1922, was an American dancer and actress. Young Cyd Charisse first started dancing lessons at the age of six. She made her big screen debut in drama film Escort Girl (1941) in uncredited role as Flamenco Dancer. She got her television debut in CBS detective series Checkmate (1961) in episode "Dance of Death", in role as Janine Caree. Cyd's breakthrough performance came as The long-legged woman in the green sequined dress in musical romantic comedy film Singin' in the Rain (1952). She landed her Broadway debut in a musical "Grand Hotel" (1991-1992) in role as Elizaveta Grushinskaya, at Martin Beck Theatre and Gershwin Theatre.
