Young Catherine Zeta Jones started performing as a child, in school theater productions.

She began her acting career in musical "Annie" in West End theatre, as one of the orphan girls, at the age of 9.

She landed her stage breakthrough role as Peggy Sawyer in musical "42nd Street" (1984), at the age of 17.

She won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Desirée Armfeldt in musical "A Little Night Music" (2010).
