Barbra Streisand was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States, on April 24, 1942, is an American actress and singer.
Young Barbra Streisand first started performing as an nightclub singer, at Bon Soir in New York's Greenwich Village (1960).
She made her acting debut on stage, in Off Broadway show "Another Evening with Harry Stoones", in New York (1961).
She got her Broadway debut in a musical "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" (1961), at age of 19, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.
She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Fanny Brice in musical "Funny Girl" (1964–1965).
She made her big screen debut in romantic musical comedy film Funny Girl (1968) in role as Fanny Brice, for which she won the Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
She released her first album "The Barbra Streisand Album" in 1963. Has recorded 50 studio albums.
She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Esther Hoffman in musical movie A Star Is Born (1976) and she won the Academy Award for composing music for the love theme "Evergreen".
