She made her big screen debut in romantic drama film Broadway Nights (1927) in uncredited role as Fan dancer. She got her television debut in CBS anthology series Schlitz Playhouse of Stars (1952) in episode "Lady with a Will", in role as Liz Quiz. Ann's breakthrough performance came as Jean Livingstone in comedy mystery film Trade Winds (1938). She landed her Broadway debut in a musical "Smiles" (1930) at Ziegfeld Theatre.
