Young Kate Beckinsale began her career with the Orange Tree Youth Theatre and the Oxford University Dramatic Society.

She was a two-time winner of the W.H. Smith Young Writers' competition for her short stories and poems.

She got her television debut in TV miniseries Devices and Desires (1991) in voice role as Young Alice Mair.
