He made his big screen debut in comedy movie Up the Academy (1980) in role as Chooch Bambalazi. He got his television debut in ABC comedy drama series Eight Is Enough (1980–1981) in role as Jeremy Andretti. Ralph's breakthrough performance came as Daniel LaRusso in martial arts drama film The Karate Kid (1984).
