Young Lou Diamond Phillips began his acting career in various productions at Stage West Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas. He made his big screen debut in drama film Interface (1984) in role as Punk #1. He got his television debut in drama action film Time Bomb (1984) in uncredited role as Terrorist. Lou's breakthrough performance came as Ritchie Valens in biographical drama movie La Bamba (1987). He landed his Broadway debut in musical "The King And I" (1996) in role as King Mongkut of Siam, for which he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor.
