He made his big screen debut in romantic drama film Great Expectations (1998) in role as Anton Le Farge. He got his television debut in Fox police drama series New York Undercover (1996) in episode "The Enforcers", in role as Oscar Griffin. Lance's breakthrough performance came as Cedric Daniels in HBO crime drama television series The Wire (2002-2008). He released his debut album "Contemplations & Remembrances" in 2007.
