Young James Brolin began his professional acting career with 20th Century Fox, he signed a contract in 1960. He made his big screen debut in comedy film Take Her, She's Mine (1963) in uncredited role as Mel. He got his television debut in ABC drama series Bus Stop (1961) in episode "The Resurrection of Annie Ahearn". Brolin's breakthrough performance came as Steven Kiley in ABC medical drama television series Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969–1976). He landed his directorial debut with thriller movie My Brother's War (1997), he also starred as John Hall.
