Young Elijah Wood first started performing in school theater productions of "The Sound of Music" and "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". He began his professional career as a model and in commercials, at the age of 7. He landed his first big break in Paula Abdul's music video "Forever Your Girl" in 1989. He made his big screen debut in science fiction movie Back to the Future Part II (1989) in role as Video Game Boy. He got his television debut in psychological thriller film Child in the Night (1990) in role as Luke. Elijah's breakthrough performance came as Michael Kaye in drama movie Avalon (1990).
