Young Dave Chappelle first started performing stand-up comedy in nightclubs, at the age of 14. He made his big screen debut in adventure comedy film Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) in role as Ahchoo. He got his television debut in HBO series Def Comedy Jam (1992) in role as Himself. Dave's breakthrough came in his satirical comedy sketch series Chappelle's Show (2003–2006). He released his first comedy special "Killin' Them Softly" in 2000.
