He made his big screen debut in drama film Firstborn (1984) in role as Brian Livingston. He got his television debut in Canadian children's program The Edison Twins (1984–1985) in role as Larry. Corey's breakthrough performance came as Sam Emerson in teen black comedy horror film The Lost Boys (1987).
