Nicolas Kim Coppola was born in Long Beach, California, United States, on January 7, 1964, is an American actor.

He changed his name early in his career to Nicolas Cage to avoid nepotism as Coppola's nephew.

Young Nicolas Cage first started acting in a school production of "Golden Boy".

He got his television debut in pilot The Best of Times (1981) in role as Nicholas.

He made his big screen debut in coming-of-age comedy movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) in role as Brad's Bud, with Sean Penn.

Cage's breakthrough performance came as Smokey in drama movie Rumble Fish (1983) directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
