Tom Hanks was born in Concord, California, United States, on July 9, 1956, is an American actor.

Young Tom Hanks first started acting during his years at the Skyline High School in Oakland, California in school theater productions.

He began his professional career on stage, with theater company "Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival".

He won a Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actor for his role as Proteus in a play "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" (1978).

He made his big screen debut in horror thriller film He Knows You're Alone (1980) in role as Elliot.

He got his television debut in ABC comedy drama television series The Love Boat (1980) in role as Rick Martin.

Tom's breakthrough performances came as Allen Bauer in fantasy romantic comedy movie Splash (1984) and as Rick Gassko in comedy film Bachelor Party (1984).

He landed his directing debut with music comedy film That Thing You Do! (1996), also starred in role as Mr. White.
